Summer is coming to an end and we’re starting the transition into autumn. We’re also going back into “school mode.” To me, the beginning of a new school year means a fresh start – reunions with our peers, making new friends and heading back to class. I love it, but I know that it’s not everyone’s favourite time of year. Take it from me and enjoy a smooth back to school transition by following three of my personal tips
1. Create a schedule
In order to feel organized and prepared for school to start once again, setting up a schedule for yourself is one of the easiest things you can do. Not only will you be able to block in the times when you have class, but you’ll be able to set aside much needed study time. Book a Collaborative & Group Work Room (CGWR) or use the open study space at the SLC to get back into the groove of things.
2. Visit Student Learning Support
After four long months of summer, it’s natural to feel a little academically “rusty.” But don’t fret, because SLS is here for you! Take advantage of their support system and get back into the mindset for success. They offer English language, math and writing support and many others to suit anyone’s needs. Sign up for a workshop or a one-on-one session today!
3. Prioritize your work-life balance
As much as it is important to prioritize your schoolwork, it is also important to strike that work-life balance. Take time for yourself and your friends while on campus. Meet new people at Amphitheatre events or hang out with your friends on The Beach. The SLC is proud to be a space that everyone can use, whether to study or socialize. Find the space within the building that fits you best!
On that note, welcome back everyone! We look forward to seeing you at the SLC.
